Food and beverage operator, SSP, is expanding its presence in Egypt by agreeing to operate a number of restaurants and cafes at Hurghada International Airport. It has also made its debut in New Zealand with an eight-year deal to run five outlets at Christchurch Airport, expanding the company’s footprint in the high-growth Asia Pacific region.
The deal with Egyptian Airports Company, which operates Hurghada will see the introduction of 12 brands, including well-known fast food brands such as KFC and Costa Coffee, as well as Camden food co. and Levito Pizza & Pasta.
Pilot Ahmed Mansour, Chairman of the Egyptian Airports Company said: “I’d like to congratulate SSP on this success and all of us at Hurghada look forward to continuing to work with our SSP colleagues on this new venture. We’re grateful to the SSP team for the impressive standards of their operations here in Egypt to date, and for their efforts in developing a compelling proposition as we go forward.”
Digital touchscreens and order-at-table options will ensure that ordering is efficient and convenient for customers.
Commenting on the agreement, Christchurch Airport CEO, Justin Watson, said: “This is an important part of our wider refresh of our food and beverage offering, to give us a suite of offerings to meet all our customer needs. It is important to have a range of great modern food and beverage options to reflect not only the broad international spectrum of our customers, but also their tastes and preferences. We see SSP as a strong fit for us, backed by a proven track record of delivering wonderful offerings including in several large Australian airports.”
SSP’s expansion into a new market in Asia Pacific also follows a deal that was signed earlier this year to acquire local food and beverage operator, ARE.
