Greek airport operator, Fraport Greece, and SSP, the food and beverage (F&B) operator, have collaborated to bring Pret A Manger to the Greek market for the first time, starting with a concession at Thessaloniki Airport.

As part of the agreement, Pret will open the Thessaloniki concession this December with shops in Mykonos, Kos and Zakynthos expected to open in time for the start of the 2024 summer season. The announcement follows Pret’s recent expansion into Spain and Italy and will enable passengers to make the most of the chain’s extensive menu of freshly-made sandwiches, salads, hot food, snacks, baked goods and Barista-made drinks.

George Vilos, Executive Director, Commercial and Business Development at Fraport Greece said: “we are very pleased with the results of our efforts to pioneer once more by offering new gastronomy related experiences to our passengers. As we did in 2018 by bringing in the Greek market popular and well-established international brands, we welcome now in Greece the world-renowned Pret A Manger chain, that has a presence in 25 countries, further enriching the F&B options offered at our airports.”

Pret now operates in 16 markets on three continents and expects to have 700 shops worldwide by the end of 2023, with Pano Chirstou, CEO of Pret A Manger acknowledging he can’t wait to bring the first Pret shop to Greece in Thessaloniki Airport.

Meanwhile, Mark Angela, Chief Business Development & Strategy Officer, CEO  India, EEME at SSP added: “#The addition of a much-loved brand such as Pret A Manger enhances our position in this important market and elevates the passenger experience. SSP Hellas has operated in Greece since 1999 and grown its presence to eight airports across the country (Athens, Thessaloniki, Corfu, Zakynthos, Rhodes, Chania, Mykonos and Kos).”
