In an industry first, Aerovolt is due due to start rolling out its multi-site smart charging network for electric aircraft in small regional airports across the Solent region in the UK.

The first six install sites will include: Sandown in the Isle of Wight; Lydd in Kent; Bournemouth in Dorset, Lee-on-Solent in Hampshire, Brighton City Airport in West Sussex and Kittyhawk Aerodrome in East Sussex. Once installation is complete all six regional hubs will have exclusive airside smart charging operations giving them access to electric aircraft.

Aerovolt already has more than 20 aerodromes signed on for fixed charger installations at large regional and medium sized aerodromes for a first stage rollout. This network will make it the largest smart aviation network in the world with its charging infrastructure facilitating planning, payment and operations into one unique system.

A further 18 chargers are scheduled to be installed over the next 18 months, with more powerful chargers in development.
