SSP Group has signed new contracts with Swedavia for the launch of 10 food and beverage (F&B) units at airports across Sweden.

Among the agreed changes with be the introduction of four new units of Swedish artisan bakery Gateau across Stockholm Arlanda Airport at Sky City, T5 Market Place, T2 and T5 Pier F. Gateau combines French baking heritage with modern food trends influenced by distinct Swedish and Nordic flavours, with décor inspired by the ambience of traditional downtown Swedish coffee houses, blending marble and dark wood throughout.

“In the many years we’ve been operating in Sweden, we’ve built strong relationships with the teams at Swedavia across the country,” said Björn Olsson, Managing Director, SSP Sweden. “We’ve also spent this time developing innovative concepts, inspired by the regions in which they are located as well as fostering partnerships with a range of local-favourite brands that we can bring to airports and rail stations across the country.”

“We know that passengers want to have truly local experiences as they travel and these new concepts and brilliant brand partnerships give them a genuine opportunity to engage with Swedish food and drink culture,” added Olsson.

SSP will also open a new Cornelius Coffee unit at Luleå Airport, offering a traditional café option with a Swedish twist. A Craft n’ Draft will also be opening, providing travellers beverages including locally brewed beer and an assortment of drinks, spirits and alcohol-free ranges. Additionally, a new hybrid retail concept, KIOSK, has opened at Luleå Airport.

Malmö Airport will welcome Husman, offering a food experience focusing on Swedish ‘husmanskost’ traditional, home-cooked Swedish food, as well as a Bistro & Bar offering casual dining with popular international and local flavours. Malmö Airport will also open new coffee units for travellers, including Swedish coffee concept Fika and KIOSK.

We also want to spotlight the Swedish coffee culture – fika – and Gateau can positively contribute to this aspiration.”
