Prestwick Airport in Scotland has welcomed the arrival of Millie’s Cookie’s online factory in partnership with food and beverage outlet supplier, SSP UK.

The new Prestwick facility has been developed to meet growing demand for Millie’s Cookies from its UK fans and supports an existing Millie’s Cookies online factory in Manchester.

The number of online orders for the popular brands’ range of sweet snacks has increased rapidly as more people have looked to treat themselves and their family and friends during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new site has led to the creation of new jobs for local workers, with the team preparing freshly-baked cookies on-site for delivery around Ayrshire and across the whole of the UK. A new click and collect service has also launched at the airport, giving customers the opportunity to pick up their orders directly from Prestwick Airport.

“With many people going through a tough time during the pandemic, being able to create local jobs and give back to the community has been a real highlight of my career,” said Christopher Millar, Operations Manager – Scottish Airports at SSP UK. “Millie’s Cookies is a great brand with great products and, with our business in Prestwick continuing to grow, we hope to expand the team even further in the near future.  We also have a number of exciting plans in the pipeline in addition to our click and collect service, with the aim of growing exposure for the Millie’s Cookies brand.

Richard Lewis, CEOO of SSP UK & Ireland added: “The Millie’s Cookies team at Prestwick Airport have done a fantastic job of getting the new site off the ground. The pandemic has hit hard for many people and businesses, so we’re delighted to be able to provide new work opportunities for the local community in Ayrshire.”
