Private aviation terminal operator, Signature Aviation, opened a newly built private aviation facility at Des Moines International Airport (DSM) in Iowa on 6 December. The opening of the greenfield project reinforces Signature Aviation’s service at Iowa’s largest airport.

The modern 5,000 sq.ft. guest terminal is complemented by a 30,000 sq. ft. hangar and office area. The hangar can accommodate large business jets up to a Bombardier Global 6500, Dassault Falcon 7x and Gulfstream G700. According to Chief Commercial Officer at Signature Aviation, Derek DeCross, “the design and amenities at the reimagined Signature Des Moines will instantly make it one of the most recognisable and unforgettable stops within our network, bringing an exceptional experience to life for every guest.”

The terminal features a floor-to-ceiling windows in its general lounge area with an adjacent crew lounge offering additional space to recharge and reset before or after travel. There is also a high-tech conference room space, internet cafe and fully stocked bar, as well as a cosy outdoor fire pit area giving customers the opportunity to soak up the scenic exterior areas and sunsets.

The 20-month construction project has produced a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified terminal, which underlines Signature’s commitment to sustainability via healthy and efficient green building practices.

“As one of the fastest growing cities in the Midwest, Des Moines is a key stop for aircraft operators travelling to and from Iowa and a vital aspect of Signature’s presence in the region,” DeCross added.

Signature also revealed that it is planning another unveiling at Key West International Airport in early 2024.
