Since opening a base at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Ryanair has been steadily expanding its operations at the Swedish gateway over the last six months. It is now launching another European route in late March with twice weekly flights to Cologne, in western Germany.

The North Rhein Westphalia region was previously served by the Irish carrier with a summer route before the pandemic and the return of this direct air link in March will be complemented by Eurowings also resuming its service to Cologne in Spring.

Ryanair is also expanding its network from Budapest Airport in Hungary with the addition of a new service to Warsaw Modlin in May and a direct link with Alghero in Sardinia in March. The confirmation of these routes will see the LCC add another 1,134 one-way weekly seats from the Hungarian hub.

Balázs Bogáts, Head of Airline Development, Budapest Airport says: “Filling another gap on our route map is always rewarding, especially when doing so with a high frequency service. Ryanair’s confirmation of another link to Poland enhances choice for both Hungarian and Polish travellers.” Bogáts adds: “Alghero is without doubt an attractive destination and we’re proud to extend our offer to Sardinia as part of our network. As the new routes join Ryanair’s previously announced service to Stockholm Arlanda, we’re very pleased the carrier has already confirmed three new operations for 2022, offering more than 60 destinations from Budapest Airport.”
