Dublin Airport has teamed up with intelligent voucher platform, iCoupon, to unveil a first-of-its-kind unified ecosystem to foster connectivity and collaboration between the airport, airlines and retailers.

The airport is using the platform to implement a series of promotions designed to incentivise passengers travelling through the terminal. As well as boosting ancillary revenues for airlines it also helps to establish mutually beneficial relationships across the airport space. The inaugural campaign in December saw passengers being offered a complimentary coffee in exchange for sharing their details to receive a QR code, which could then be redeemed at selected airport retailers. With 2,000 vouchers issued and 342 redeemed between 18 December and 4 January, representing a 20% redemption rate, the campaign was deemed a notable success.

“I’m delighted to share in the success of our recent innovative campaign in collaboration with iCoupon,” said Mairead McNally, Digital Marketing Manager at Dublin Airport. “Introducing €5 vouchers to airport visitors for selected retailers marked the first campaign of its kind at Dublin Airport. The campaign has been a great success, and I must commend the iCoupon team for their responsiveness and assistance throughout the setup. This success fuels our enthusiasm to explore further similar ventures in the future.”

iCoupon CEO, Richard Bye, added his enthusiasm for the collaboration, explaining that recent advances in the company’s intelligent vouchering platform allow airports to really make use of the network, enabling them to create, distribute, validate and redeem vouchers for their passengers that can be specific to each individual airport store. This, he said: “means that the retailers are also able to effectively manage the financial performance of individual stores, while also offering maximum flexibility to the airport and allowing it to offer promotions to every type of passenger.”
