Altavia Travel Retail is collaborating with Bordeaux Airport to create a new retail experience at the French hub. The initiative is part of the airport’s €240 million modernisation and transformation project, known as ‘Resources 27′, which primarily focuses on the renewal of the airport infrastructure and the improvement of service quality, while prioritising environmental challenges.

Bordeaux has enlisted Altavia to design and develop the commercial and service spaces in Terminals A and B with the restructure scheduled to be operational by 2028. The aim is to create welcoming, appealing areas that meet customer expectations and deliver on the retail demand.

“Providing quality service to passengers is a key strategic goal for the airport,” said Bordeaux’s Airport Head of Real Estate and Retail services, Herve Etchenique. “We were seeking a partner capable of helping us in designing and implementing the right strategy as part of our modernisation project, aligned with the current and future expectations and aspirations of our passengers and users.”

Meanwhile, Altavia Travel Retail Managing Director, Hugo Vanderschaegh added: “This is a technical project involving the redirection of passenger flows, as well as a forward-thinking exercise where we must anticipate travellers’ needs and expectations for the next 10 years, in a context where technologies and behaviours are changing very fast. Our objective is for the people of Bordeaux and Nouvelle Aquitaine to take pride in their airport and look forward to travelling through it.”
