Stuttgart Airport in Germany has marked a milestone, becoming the first air transport hub to receive the world’s first fully electric 40,000-litre aviation refuelling truck.

The result of a collaborative effort between Skytanking, Stuttgart Airport and RWTH University of Aachen, the inclusion of a larger refuelling truck weighing more than 50 tonnes in an airport setting underscores Skytanking and Stuttgart’s commitment to sustainability in aviation.

Speaking at an unveiling ceremony attended earlier in March by Winfried Hermann, Minister of Transport of Baden-Wurttember, Ulrich Heppe, CEO of Stuttgart Airport and Christoph Lindke, VP for Northern Europe at Skytanking, Lindke expressed his delight at the collaboration saying: “Today signifies an important stride in the ongoing electrification of our global vehicle fleet. This transition not only benefits the environment, but also enhances the well-being of our employees by reducing exposure to exhaust emissions and noise. We take immense pride in our role within this pioneering project, with Skytanking leading the charge in employing cutting-edge technology.”
