Thanks to a new link with low-fare carrier Wizz Air, Budapest Airport in Hungary is set to welcome a new link with Cairo in Egypt. The new service will complement existing connections between the two cities but will be the first low-cost operation.

The three times weekly service, which will be flown on 239-seat A321neos, will commence operations on 30 October and will see Budapest double its weekly capacity to the Egyptian capital. As well as boosting links to Cairo, the service will complement links to Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh. During the W23/24 season, Budapest will offer 13 flights, more than 2,400 one-way seats to Egypt each week.

Balázs Bogáts, CCO, Budapest Airport, said: “Wizz Air’s connection to Cairo is fantastic news for the large number of Egyptian tourists visiting us every year. We’re thrilled to welcome the carrier’s latest addition to our route map. The announcement is just as great for the many Hungarians travelling to Egypt to experience the rich culture, heritage and the incredible ancient architecture, as well as being the perfect setting for winter sun.”
