Norwegian regional carrier Widerøe is celebrating a comeback at Hamburg Airport, having resumed a four weekly service between the German hub and Bergen in Norway.

The route had been temporarily halted following the global pandemic, but is now back being served every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday by a De Havilland DHC-8 400 series.

“Widerøe’s comeback is good news, especially for Scandinavia fans,” said Dirk Behrens, Head of Aviation at Hamburg Airport. “With Bergen in Norway, the airline is bringing an attractive destination back into Hamburg’s route network, which has not been served non-stop from Hamburg for some time. This means that North Germans can now travel to the Norwegian west coast again without a stopover – and start a round trip or discover the region from there.”

As Norway’s second largest city, Bergen is a gateway to a bustling cosmopolitan scene, but is also a gateway to stunning forests, fjords and hiking areas. Just like Hamburg, Bergen was one of the headquarters of the Hanseatic League and therefore the centre of Norwegian foreign trade for several centres. Meanwhile, Hamburg is the biggest city in northern Germany and a cultural hub. A popular business destination, the charming city is also ideal for a weekend break and offers convenient access to the surrounding region.
