Henry E Rohlsen Airport

The Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA) has selected VIports Partners to finance and redevelop terminals at both Cyril E King Airport on the island of St Thomas and Henry E Rohlsen Airport on the island of St Croix.

The consortium is comprised of various members, including US airport operator Avports, equity provider, terminal developer and constructor Aecon and the architects Corgan Associates.

In addition to modernising the terminal, VIports Partners has also entered into a transition agreement to operate and maintain both airports.

“This partnership proves that the US Virgin Islands can do big things and that we are open for business,” said VIPA Executive Director Carlton Dowe. “The time for progress is now, because the Caribbean and the rest of the world are not waiting for the US Virgin Islands.”

According to VIPA, VIports Partners’ proposal provides the best overall value during the development and operational phases of the two terminals. The terminal upgrades will include the addition of passenger boarding bridges and is expected to significantly enhance the traveller experience as well as solidify the US territory’s position as one of the most popular destinations in the Caribbean.
