Canadian low-cost carrier Swoop has reaffirmed its partnership with Edmonton Airport with the launch of its winter schedule including the addition of nonstop services to Toronto Pearson International Airport.

The airline’s schedule also sees a return to popular winter sun destinations including Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan in Mexico and Phoenix-Mesa in Arizona. Abbotsford and Hamilton will also continue to be served from the Alberta hub.

“We’ve clearly heard from sun seekers that they’re looking for options this winter,” said Myron Keehn, Vice President, Air Service and Business Development, Edmonton International Airport, thanking Swoop as well as other airline partners for enabling them to meet that demand. “These flights will make it possible for local travellers, including snowbirds to still get their traditional winter break.”

The airport has introduced a number of measures to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers and crew in preparation for the build up of services.

Meanwhile, Bert van der Stege, Head of Commercial and Finance at Swoop, described his excitement for the addition of Toronto to its network from Edmonton saying, “We know that Canadians are cautious about travelling, and with the significatn health and safety measures we have put in place, travellers can rest assured that their safety is our top priority.”

He added that, “In a challenging year like we are having, we know that it is more important than ever to help Canadians connect with family and friends. We want to help travellers do that safely, responsibly and affordably.”

The start of Swoop’s winter schedule marks the next step in the airline’s recovery efforts. For passengers all transborder and international round-trip Swoop flight bookings include no-charge COVID-19 travel insurance coverage.
