Swedish airport operator Swedavia has partnered with food and beverage operator SSP to open a selection of new eateries at Umeå Airport and Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

The collaboration includes the first-ever travel concession for the popular downtown brand inspired by New York street food Bastard Burgers at Arlanda. Meanwhile passengers travelling through Umeå Airport can drop by UME Fika & Bar, a one-stop shop catering for their food, drink and retail needs. The concept has been designed to offer a relaxing environment for those wanting to escape the busy airport terminal.

“We are very excited to be working with Swedavia to strengthen the food and beverage offering at Umeå Airport and Stockholm Arlanda Airport,” said Joakim Lkingsell, CEO of SSP Sweden. “Whether passengers are looking to indulge in the latest food trends or try something more traditional, these exciting new concepts will present them with outstanding local cuisine that is a ‘true taste of Sweden’.”

The wide-ranging menu at UME Fika & Bar includes everything from Swedish meatballs and hamburgers to shrimp sandwiches, vegan dishes and ‘raw fika’ – a range of lactose and gluten-free treats – as well as craft beers, organic wines, espresso and healthy smoothies. The outlet’s retail offer sells travel goods including magazines, snacks and souvenirs.

Alongside Bastard Burgers, Arlanda has also welcomed two new concepts, Uncorked – a lounge-style wine bar in Terminal 5 and ÄTA – a cafe and bar located in domestic area of Terminal 4.
