Dallas-based Southwest Airlines’ is growing its footprint at both Colorado Springs Municipal Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport in the US.

“These investments in Chicago and Colorado provide even more convenience for our current customers while also making it more convenient for new travellers to choose Southwest as we begin service from their preferred airport,” said Andrew Watterson, Southwest Airlines Chief Commercial Officer.

More than 35 yars after landing at Chicago Midway International Airport, Southwest is expanding its network from the region adding complementing services from Chicago O’Hare from 14 February,2021. The carrier’s initial service will offer 20 departures daily from O’Hare with routes to Nashville, Baltimore/ Washington, Denver, Dallas (Love Field) and Phoenix.

When it takes off from Colorado Springs Municipal Airport on 11 March, 2021 Southwest will launch services to Denver, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Dallas (Love Field) and Chicago (Midway). The new services will link the Pikes Peak region nonstop with up to 13 flights.

“Our low fares and friendly policies, like no change fees and bags fly free, mean more today as they give people the peace of mind to book travel beyond 2020,” added Watterson. “We’re growing the reach of Southwest as we add more destinations across the US while bringing our warm hospitality and iconic customer service to more people than ever before.”

The low-cost carriers is continuing expansion plans across Colorado with new seasonal services to both Montrose (Telluride) and Steamboat Springs (Hayden) from 19 December 2020. And from January 2021, it will be marking its 15th anniversary of service to Denver, where Southwest now employs more than 4,000 people and offers up to 220 nonstop departures per day.

The carrier is also preparing to begin services to Palm Springs and Miami beginning 15 November through until 11 April. Southwest also plans to add service from Houston George Bush Intercontinental; Savana, Georgia; and return to Jackson, Mississippi, in the first half of 2021.
