In line with plans to expand capacity and accommodate modern airline fleets Southampton Airport, which is managed by Ferrovial, has completed and officially opened the £15 million, 164m, extension of its runway. Steve Szalay, Southampton Airport’s Operations Director described the extension as critical to the airport’s future. “It will help enhance the region’s connectivity, safeguard the airport’s future and help deliver social and economic benefits to Eastleigh, Southampton and the wider region.”

The expansion  project will generate approximately 1,400 additional jobs and will attract more airlines enabling the airport to widen its destination network with new routes and services.

“We are committed to strengthening connectivity while promoting economic development and the expansion advances our shared goal to increase capacity and positively impact the community and the region,” said Miguel Rodera, Ferrovial Airports Asset Management Director for Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton (AGS) Airports.
