Gold Coast Airport in Australia has had to temporarily close due to severe weather and flooding over its runways and taxiways, as the flooding crisis continues in southeast Queensland.

All flights to and from the airport have been cancelled with a twitter statement from the airport explaining that the airport’s operations team is continuing to closely monitor the airfield.

Elsewhere, Brisbane Airport has closed one of its two runways and multiple taxiways due to these being largely under water. The airport also revealed it is “experiencing major delays with domestic check-in and screening due to staff resource issues,” with flooding throughout the region leaving workers stuck at home. The airport is advising passengers to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes prior to their flight and to expect delays.
