Perth Airport, which has this week been attending Routes World in Istanbul, has partnered with Destination Perth to market the city and surrounding region as a must-visit destination.

Kate Holsgrove, Perth Airport Acting CEO, explained that Perth Airport is committed to increasing visitation to Perth, particularly from key international markets.

“This partnership agreement is proof of our commitment to Perth and supports the important work of Destination Perth and Tourism WA in promoting Western Australia to the world as an incredible holiday and events destination.”

She added that the value of tourism to Perth is significant for the local economy with Western Australia’s tourism industry supporting nearly 30,000 tourism businesses, generating 100,900 jobs and contributing jobs and contributing $11 billion in visitor spend.

Destination Perth CEO, Sonja Mitchell added that the collaboration will promote Perth to its membership base of more than 500 tourism operators throughout the region, including accommodation and entertainment venues, restaurants, attractions, transport, tour and cruise operators.

“Part of the important work that our team does is attend international travel trade roadshows to promote destination awareness of Perth and drive visitors to our great capital city,” she said.

The team is planning on attending various events in key visitor markets such as India, CHina, Japan, UK/ Europe and the US over the next year.

“This complements the work of Perth Airport and the WA State Government to increase aviation access and deliver new services to support the growth of visitor numbers.”
