Hainan Airlines’ new direct connection to Shenzhen has been inaugurated at Milan Malpensa Airport, the airline’s third direct route to Italy. The service will be operated using the airline’s Boeing 787 aircraft and will operate three times weekly, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

As the second largest international destination after North America, China is an important market for Malpensa, with the airport having seen 700,000 passengers pass through Malpensa to and from China in 2019. Shenzhen’s reputation for high-tech and electric mobility development is also important for the Cargo sector.

To support the new service, Hainan Airlines has awarded Airport Handling with a multi-year contract to manage the ground handling operations at Milan Malpensa Airport.

Under the agreement, Airport Handling will provide a range of passenger, ramp and baggage services to Hainan Airlines for its new Milan-Shenzhen service.

“We are proud and delighted to welcome Hainan Airlines to Milan Malpensa Airport and look forward to providing the highest level of quality and safety to the airline and its customers,” said Alberto Morosi, CEO, Airport Handling. “We will continue to go the extra mile to be the most admired air and travel services provider and an employer of choice throughout our operations.”
