Global logistics provider, Menzies Aviation, has kick started the new year by announcing expansion plans across its European operations.
At Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Menzies has been contracted to deliver ground handling operations for the low-fare Latvian carrier, Air Baltic. The agreement will see the team handle five flights per day at the Swedish hub. The new partnership will complement the existing ground handling operations that Menzies Aviation provides to Air Baltic in Gothenburg, Nice and Oslo.
Following the launch of China Eastern’s direct route between Shanghai Pudong Airport and Stockholm, Menzies can now also count the Chinese carrier as a customer to its Stockholm operations. It will provide passenger and ramp handling services, as well as cleaning and lounge services at Stockholm Airport.
Additionally, the logistics provider has also been awarded a passenger and ramp handling contract by Siberia Airlines at both Stockholm and Copenhagen airports.
“The contract wins with Air Baltic, Siberia Airlines and China Eastern have helped fuel our strategic expansion throughout the Scandinavian region. In particular, it is pleasing to see growth at our Copenhagen station, which has gone from strength to strength since operations began in 2015,” said Forsyth Black, CEO, Menzies Aviation.
As of January 2019, Menzies Aviation will also take over Finnair’s operations at Copenhagen Airport. While outside of the Scandinavian region, Menzies has been awarded a contract by Czech Airlines to provide handling operations for an additional 16,000 flights per year at Prague Vaclav Havel Airport. The airport serves as Menzies’ Eastern Europe HQ, offering a full suite of ground handling services to customers including easyJet and Ryanair, as well as Emirates, Air Canada and Lufthansa.
