The Materna Group has transferred its aviation brand Intelligent Passenger Solutions (IPS) to form a new autonomous limited company that will enable the self bag drop provider to focus more clearly on growth markets in passenger handling.

As a 100% subsidiary of Materna information and Communications SE, Materna IPS will progress its aviation business in its own right. Its portfolio will continue to cover all its previous hardware and software solutions as well as services for airports and airlines. Materna IPS will also continue its close connections with the parent company Materna SE but will be targeting its structures and processes even more on the international market and its global customer business.

In addition to enabling the company to focus exclusively on the aviation sector, the spin-off will enable Materna IPS to develop its own specific strengths and be even more agile in the implementation of international customer projects.

Commenting on the transformation into an independent company, Martin Wibbe, CEO and Chairman of the Board at Materna Information & Communications SE said: “Materna IPS is enjoying continuous growth and already has more than 800 installations to its name around the world, includign at important airports such as Toronto Pearson in Canada and Bangalore Airport in India… the forecasts for the coming years in this market segment are very promising, in spite of the Corona pandemic.”

Dr. Georg Oschmann, Managing Director of Materna IPS GmbH added: “As a 100% subsidiary of Materna Information & Communications SE we will continue to enjoy the financial stability which our customers can rely on. At the same time, we will be able to concentrate optimally on our growth markets in North America, India and Japan, and on growing project volumes in Europe and on the implementation of further large projects, while reacting flexibly to market changes.”
