UK airport operator – Manchester Airports Group (MAG) and Copenhagen-based software company, Copenhagen Optimization, have joined forces to fast-track innovations for airport operations.

The two companies have announced a formal strategic collaboration with a view to creating a data-led, airport-wide, planning and operating approach, that delivers crucial operational insights and creates seamless passenger journeys.

While MAG has been a Copenhagen Optimization customer since 2018, the extended partnership aims to deliver a closer working relationship to accelerate game-changing innovations, by collating crucial operational insights. The initiative is already proving fruitful with the co-development of Better Shift, a solution that gives airport operational teams the tools to make the right staffing and deployment decisions at the right time.

“We believe that innovation in technology will be the key driver in enhancing the airport experience,” said Nicholas Woods, Chief Information Officer, MAG. “We are excited about what our partnership with Copenhagen Optimization will deliver and look forward to finding ways to give our future passengers a truly seamless experience.”

Kasper Hounsgaard, Co-CEO of Copenhagen Optimization added: “It is forward thinking and advanced in its technological adaptation that we truly understand the challenges faced by airports when developing Better Airport – our software solution, helping airports optimise every aspect of their daily operations, from curb to gate.”
