Manchester Airport is set for its busiest month, expecting around 100,000 passengers at the airport per day throughout August, rising to 107,000 passengers on Fridays. The peak month of the holiday season follows a successful July that saw passenger numbers increase by 15% on July 2022.

July 2023 saw the most passengers pass through the airport since before the pandemic, reaching nearly three million passengers. July also saw 96% of travellers go through security in under 15 minutes, compared to 95% in the three previous months.

“In the last month alone, we’ve seen almost 3m passengers come through the airport and we’ve worked hard to give every single person the best start to their travels,” said Chris Woodroofe, Managing Director, Manchester Airport. “More than 96 per cent of people have been able to get through security in under 15 minutes meaning they get to relax in our departure lounges and feel like their holidays are beginning at the airport.

“We’re expecting even more passengers in August,” he continued, “and I feel confident that we’re in a great position to continue giving people the best start to their breaks.”

Manchester Airport has also been praised for its significant improvements to its service offering for disabled and less mobile passengers, receiving The Civil Aviation Authority’s highest rating in the Airport Accessibility Review.

The airport has recruited more than 3,000 employees since last year and has a 100-person resilience team, aimed at providing a quick response to any issues.

“This work has also helped us get the top rating from the Civil Aviation Authority for our support for passengers who need assistance,” said Woodroofe.
