Bengaluru (Bangalore) has welcomed a new link with Munich, the German gateway to Bavaria, thanks to a three weekly service from Lufthansa. Before departing from Munich, the inaugural service was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony (pictured).

Alongside Delhi and Mumbai, Bengaluru is the third Indian city with a direct connection for travellers from Munich. With a population of 12+ million, Bengaluru is an important IT hub and a hub for India’s aerospace sector. It is also known as India’s ‘Garden City’ thanks to its abundance of green outdoor spaces.

The new connection also underlines Lufthansa’s aspirations to grow its destination network in India as the third largest aviation market globally. India has also recorded the highest GDP growth rate in APAC over the past 12 months.

The flights will be served on an Airbus A350-900 aircraft – one of the most modern and fuel-efficient long-haul aircraft.
