Flights will resume between Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) and Shannon Airport on the west coast of Ireland later this year, thanks to Ryanair.

The low-fare Irish carrier will commence flights in Summer 2018, operating a three-times weekly service on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays until the end of October.

Commenting on the new service Paul Winfield, director of aviation development for LJLA, said: “We are delighted to see the return of Shannon to the Liverpool network for summer 2018. This new service will allow passengers from across the North West market to enjoy a faster, easier, friendlier experience when travelling to and from Shannon.

The route between the two regional hubs was last operated in 2014.
