Leidos has been selected to upgrade the hold baggage screening systems at Sofia Airport, Bulgaria, in compliance with the latest European regulations. The installation of the new systems is expected be completed in Q2 2024, ahead of the summer season.

Under the collaboration, Leidos will install three EU Standard 3 certified MV:3D Explosive Detection Systems (EDS), two new transmission X-ray systems, and a comprehensive 10-year service contract for the systems. With the advanced screening technology upgrades, Sofia Airport will have the capability to scan up to 1,800 bags per hour, per system, optimising efficiency of the hold bag screening process.
