ITW GSE has unveiled a groundbreaking suite of technologies designed to unlock substantial excess power potential, unleashing up to 50% surplus power at this year’s Inter Airport taking place in Munich.

EcoGate, as the solution has been branded, has been designed to empower airports to harness operational efficiencies, achievable only through the interlinking of gate equipment into one intelligent system.

Airports that want to modernise their gate technology often struggle with the limited power capacity and the costs of infrastructure expansion, but at the core of EcoGate lies ITW GSE’s Intelligent Power Management (IPM), which allows all ITW GSE equipment to be powered from a single power line running from the gate’s power supply to the 3500 PCA.

While most GSE units are engineered to accommodate peak loads, resulting in an average surplus capacity ranging from 35% to 50%, EcoGate uses this surplus to power additional or upgraded equipment, giving priority to GPUs and without exceeding a preset limit on total power consumption. By orchestrating power allocation in this manner, EcoGate empowers airports to seamlessly enhance or introduce new gate equipment without the need for costly infrastructure upgrades.
