Southern African airline Airlink is expanding its regional operations with additional flights between Johannesburg in South Africa and Lilongwe in Malawi from 16 December 2023. The additional service is in response to popular demand on the route with frequencies being upped to four a week – with the introduction of Saturday flights.

The regional carrier launched services to both Lilongwe and Blantyre in Malawi in September from Johannesburg. Reflecting on the services, Airlink CEO and MD, Rodger Foster said: “As anticipated the market has responded positively to Airlink’s offering on the routes, which are all about providing reliable, convenient and great value connectivity for travel between the two countries.”

Often referred to as the “warm heart of Africa”, Malawi offers strong tourism potential  with attractions including Lake Malawi, wildlife, adventure and its rich cultural heritage. It was crowned one of Lonely Planet‘s ‘Best in Travel Top Countries in 2022’.

The flights will be served by a 37-seat Embraer.
