As specialists in air traffic management (ATM) solutions and simulation and training systems, Adacel is extending its contract with Leidos for the FAA’s Advanced Technologies and Oceanic Procedures (ATOP) Programme. The announcement follows the FAA’s extension of its contract with Leidos to support the ATOP Programme for a further 12 years.

Adacel has been supporting the oceanic automation software of the ATOP system for more than 20 years. The system has provided increased operational efficiency within the US controlled oceanic airspaces of the Atlantic and Pacific as well as the systems’ continued modernisation.

Some of the ATOP system features include: Fully integrated flight and radar data processing, conflict detection between aircraft, satellite data link communication and surveillance capabilities, electronic flight strips and more, all resulting in more optimal flight profiles, reduced fuel burn and carbon emissions, more airspace capacity and greater efficiency as well as reduced controller workload.

“We are very proud of our 20+ years partnership with Leidos and our sustained support of the FAA’s ATOP programme,” said Daniel Verret, CEO, Adacel. “The benefits are immense to the flying public and our customer. We look forward to supporting the programme for years to come with the same passion and dedication we put forward since the programme’s inception,” he continued.
