Indonesian low-fare carrier Citilink is resuming services between Perth in Australia and Bali as well as introducing a service to Jakarta from the western Australian hub.

According to Perth Airport’s acting CEO, Kate Holsgrove, the Citilink services bring more competition and choice for travellers.

She said: “It’s great that Citilink is returning, especially given that these services will bring almost 190,000 additional seats to the market, which is fantastic news for those travelling for leisure, business or education.

“Indonesia is our nearest neighbour and one of the most popular tourism destinations for Western Australians. These new services to Indonesia only brings further business and trade opportunities,” she added, noting that Indonesia has a population of 273 million.

Citlink Indonesia’s CEO, Dewa Rai, said: “These new routes are quite promising considering that tourists from Australia are one of the highest number of tourists visiting Indonesia in 2022.”

He added that the opening of these routes will improve bilateral relations between the two countries and increase the potential for greater cooperation in various sectors such as culture, economy, politics, social and more.

Citlink’s daily Perth-Bali service will resume on 19 July on an A320, while the Jakarta link will operate three times a week (also on an A320) starting on 29 July.
