Plaza Premium Group (PPG) has partnered with NHY Group, Ethiopia’s primary distributor in travel retail and hospitality, to transform the lounge experience at the country’s main hub – Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.

Ethiopia had experienced significant growth in international tourism in the years prior to the pandemic and the new lounge is in response to this continued forecasted growth in passenger traffic.

Hosting around 12 million passengers per year, the airport is also a major transport hub for the region and Africa as a whole. This new partnership will elevate the lounge experience by combining PPG’s award-winning expertise spanning 24 years and NHY’s extensive understanding of the local travel and hospitality scene.

Set to open later this year in March, Plaza Premium Lounge Ethiopia will span 1,000 sq m and has been designed to deliver world class services to accommodate more than 300 guests. It features a range of facilities including a business centre, shower rooms, sleeping rooms, a cigar lounge and an open café/restaurant concept. It will also offer an authentic Ethiopian culinary experience and an aesthetic to reflect the local design and culture. The lounge will operate on a pay-per-use basis.

Bora Isbulan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Plaza Premium Group, said: “Our ambitions to extend our 360-degree world-class airport hospitality services and facilities in Africa are on track. We are excited to be partnering with NHY Group, the leader of travel retail and hospitality in Ethiopia, to further expand our footprint in Africa in this strategic region. Our entry into Addis Ababa Bole International Airport is a testament to our strategy and vision to expand our global airport hospitality services and facilities across the world.”
