The deal follows the previous announcement of Willis signing a deal with Jet2 at the airport at its Jet Centre by Willis facility to carry out C-check inspection on the airline’s 737s.
“Willis has been a vital partner for Teesside and this agreement is yet another example of their commitment to our airport,” said Phil Forster, Managing Director of Teesside Airport. “This second deal shows we’re growing as an attractive option for aircraft MRO with operators sitting up and taking notice of what our site has on offer. Firms can see their aircraft maintained and painted at Teesside – and this, combined with our vision to grow, positioning in the heart of the UK, and Freeport status, strengthens our push to see more aircraft based here. This is another good sign for our airport’s future – and having quality companies in TUI and Jet2 more involved with Teesside is a huge boost.”

TUI’s 737NGs will be the first aircraft to receive maintenance checks at Teesside at Hangar 2 where Willis is based, however, the company has secured planning permission to expand its MRO operations at the airport.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with TUI Airways, a highly regarded airline recognized for its customer-centric approach and operational excellence,” commented Austin Willis, Chief Executive Officer of WLFC. “This partnership underscores our dedication to providing top-tier MRO solutions, supporting TUI’s fleet, and contributing to local economic growth by creating skilled job opportunities within the UK aerospace industry.”
Recently, Teesside Airport announced a renewed contract with Draken, an aviation services and technology firm, to act as a base for RAF training operations in partnership with the Ministry of Defence.
