Vision-Box, a biometric travel solutions provider, has integrated over 150 touchpoints at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) and Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS).

The touchpoints have been installed in partnership with the Directorate General of Immigration – Republic of Indonesia and Sinergi Teknoglobal Perkasa, and will hopefully help to reduce queueing time and improve the efficiency of security and immigration authority operations. The biometric gates will also house and provide data, accessible to stakeholders.

“The implementation of these eGates at Soekarno-Hatta and Bali has significantly improved the passenger processing time from the conventional border control counters, which previously took around 3 to 5 minutes per passenger, to an average of 20 to 25 seconds,” said Andi Sjachrial, President Director of Sinergi Teknoglobal Perkasa. “This innovation makes the passenger experience more enjoyable during the immigration process.”

The installation program began in 2023 at CGK, starting with 78 Automated Border Control (ABC) Seamless Gates, as well as eGates for reduced mobility passengers. Since their deployment, the biometric system has been used by over 6 million passengers to scan passports and complete biometric verification. 90 ABC Seamless Gates are currently being integrated at DPS.

“We are excited to support Indonesia’s ambitious modernisation goals and enhance passenger experiences at its key airports,” commented Maneesh Jaikrishna, Regional Managing Director of Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa of Vision-Box. “Our deployments at Jakarta and Bali airports demonstrate our commitment to providing world-class biometric solutions that meet the highest standards of security and efficiency.”

The developments in airport infrastructure follow increasing growth for Indonesia’s air travel market, with a projected 200 million passengers annually by 2030. Recently, the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics signed a contract with Vaisala, a measurement technology company, to improve weather safety at 14 Indonesian airports.
