Valbrembo Airport, which is situated close to Milan Bergamo and home to Aeroclub Volovelistico Alpino AVA, has deployed MC Solutions’ ArS Autonomous Runway Safeguard, to enhance operations on its runway.
MC Solutions’ ArS system detects aircraft from the approach or taxiing phase and automatically activates the red lights installed at holding positions to prevent runway incursions. By detecting flight activity before the runway is actually occupied without the need for human intervention, the solution is integral to maintaining safe, secure operations even when the control tower is unoccupied. “In aviation, there’s not room for interpretation or nuance. Red is universally a stop command that cannot be ignored!” emphasised Debora Cazzani, MC Solutions’ Marketing and Export Manager.
She also underlined that ArS is a cost-effective solution that doesn’t require huge infrastructural upheaval or expensive maintenance, so is particularly well suited to small and regional airports.
