Travelex has launched two new sites at Hobart Airport in Tasmania, Australia, as the airport prepares to welcome 3.5 million passengers by 2030.
The two new ATMs are located in the airside departures and landside arrivals respectively, strategically positioned to meet the growing demand of passenger traffic as the airport undertakes an ambitious AUD 200 million terminal expansion that is set to double its footprint by 2027.
Hobart’s recent runway upgrade to accommodate widebody aircraft will enable non-stop international flights to Asian destinations including Singapore and Hong Kong in the next few years.

Travelex’s airside departures ATM dispenses Australian dollars, US dollars, New Zealand dollars and Indonesian rupiahs, while the Australian dollar is available at the new landside arrivals ATM.
The foreign exchange specialist opened its first Tasmanian store more than 20 years ago in the CBD of Launceston, Tasmania’s second largest city, with a bureau implant inside leading travel agency Helloworld Travel.
In 2024, Travelex unveiled a new store at Eastlands Shopping Centre, the largest shopping centre in Hobart, enabling the local community to acquire foreign currency conveniently in advance of their trip either walk up or online click and collect.
In addition, Travelex supports over 100 Australia Post outlets across Tasmania with foreign exchange cash services.
According to the 2026 Travelex Travel Money Insight report, nearly half of the Australians surveyed prefer to acquire travel money a month or more before their journey.
Kate Gillies, Hobart Airport’s Chief Financial and Commercial Officer, said Travelex’s expanded presence represented another important step in enhancing the airport’s customer experience as part of its AUD 200 million terminal redevelopment, adding: “By doubling our terminal space and creating capacity for millions more passengers in the years ahead, we are focused on providing travellers with greater convenience, more choice and the services they expect from a modern gateway.”
