Tecnam has teamed up with flyvbird, a regional carrier that will use smaller hubs and an algorithmic approach to provide an alternative to traditional modes of transport.

Flyvbird, which was launched under the brand name flyvirtual, is focused on decentralised regional markets that offer the potential to significantly impact the future of sustainable air travel, where the greatest customer value is in flying closer, faster and better in rural areas.

The airline’s founder and CEO, Tomislav Lang, commented that the partnership with Tecnam “will help us accelerate our growth and establish ourselves as a leader in personalised on demand air travel”.

The strategic partnership with Tecnam will see the delivery of the company’s first aircraft, the P2012, which will offer versatile capabilities, competitive acquisition costs and low and flat operating costs.

According to Francesco Sferra, P2021 – Special Mission Platform Sales and Business Development Manager, Experimental Test Pilot, the “P2012 Traveller and P2012 STOL are the perfect fit for flyvbird’s success and network growth”.

The Traveller seats nine passengers with one or two crew and is a new-generation turbocharged twin-engine high-wing fixed-wing aircraft. It offers premium interiors, in-seat power, superior legroom and under-seat stowage.

Meanwhile, its TKS de-icing capabilities and robust design enable flyvbird to provide reliable on-time service to communities in any challenging weather environment.
