Following the complete transformation of Terminal 2, Manchester Airport has opened a brand-new dining area named the Great Northern Market, featuring six street food kitchens and a dessert stand. The layout is designed to represent the informal atmosphere of a food market, where members of a group can each buy different types of food but still all sit together.

The six food outlets are Nashville Hot House, offering buttermilk fried chicken and other Southern dishes; Black Iron Grill, serving smash burgers and loaded fries; Kouzina, with Greek and Mediterranean inspired dishes; Las Casita, serving Mexican delicacies; Palms Café for pan-Asian dishes; and Napoli Street Pizza. Additionally, passengers can end with a treat with Gooey, a Manchester brand selling coffee, cookies, and doughnuts.

“We’re so excited to be launching Great Northern Market and can’t wait to share it with our passengers,” said Richard Jackson, Retail Director at Manchester Airport. “A lot of work has gone into this idea and we’re delighted with the final product – there’s something on offer to suit all tastes. This is the first unit of its kind in a UK airport, but we know market halls are really popular and we want to ensure the offerings in our brand-new Terminal 2 keep up with modern tastes, providing a range of dining experiences from more casual eateries like this one, through to high end a la carte options.”

The new eatery is operated by Airport Retail Enterprises UK (ARE), which also operates in Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, and Edinburgh airports.

John and Hayley Butts, Directors at Airport Retail Enterprises, commented: “We are thrilled to be finally opening our doors and bringing this exciting new street food style concept to Manchester Airport. Great Northern Market will provide all the benefits of a market hall environment – variety, quality, value and a lively, social atmosphere – on a scale not previously seen in UK airports.”
