“The introduction of the next generation scanners not only represents a significant investment by the airport, it represents one of the most significant advancements in airport security,” said Gavin Williams, Managing Director Operations at Southampton Airport.
He continued: “It also underscores our commitment to improving the passenger experience and I am excited about the long-term benefits it will deliver. As with any major project there is the possibility of some disruption which is why we are asking passengers to ensure they allow enough time for their journey through the airport.”
The project is expected to cause some disruption, with the airport advising passengers to arrive with extra time.
At the end of January, it was announced that AGS Airports, the operator of Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton, had been acquired by AviAlliance.
