Smiths Detection has received Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Level 2AB certification for its prohibited item (PI) detection software used at airport checkpoints. Level 2AB represents TSA’s most rigorous explosive detection standard for U.S. checkpoint screening, confirming the software’s ability to meet the agency’s highest performance requirements.
The newly certified software supports TSA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security, streamline checkpoint operations and improve the passenger experience. When paired with Smiths Detection’s computed tomography (CT) systems, the software applies machine learning algorithms to analyse carry on baggage images and flag items that require operator review.
