Global threat detection and security screening technology company Smiths Detection has announced the completion of its transition from Smiths Group to CVC Capital Partners (CVC), one of the world’s leading private markets investment firms.
Henrik Ehrnrooth, Senior Industrial Partner at CVC and Chairman at Smiths Detection, commented: “Smiths Detection plays an integral role in global threat detection, which is apparent in its #1 position in aviation security. However there is incredible scope for growth across its other segments, including ports & borders, urban security and the circular economy. Our vision is for Smiths Detection to become the indisputable leader in keeping people and countries secure.”
Jerome de Chassey, CEO at Smiths Detection, said that the transition from Smiths Group to CVC ownership is a milestone that will benefit all of the company’s stakeholders, and especially its customers. “Now, with CVC’s support, we will have greater focus and the ability to invest further in innovation and technology, and strengthen our market-leading positions to support long-term growth.”
The former Smiths Group company recently secured new contract wins in Japan, including partnerships with Hiroshima International Airport and Miyazaki International Airport. Smiths Detection has also deployed technology at Haneda Airport, Ishigaki Airport and Okadama Airport through its partnership with Japan Airlines.
According to Smiths Detection, it is mobilising the company’s HI-SCAN 6040 CTiX Model S scanners at the airports, removing the need for passengers to take out electronics, liquids or gels out of their hand luggage.
