Skyborne pilot training academy is expanding its Gloucestershire Airport (GLO) training facility, significantly increasing the academy’s UK capacity amid growing global demand for airline standard pilots.
This expansion includes additional hangar space for aircraft, more classrooms for ground training and breakout rooms for both trainees and employees. “We built Skyborne from the ground up and started our very first intake here in Gloucestershire Airport. Since then, we’ve set up bases in Bournemouth and Vero Beach, Florida, USA, where we’ve established a global network of airline partnerships and seen Skyborne pilots go on to fly for more than 50 airlines worldwide.
“Safety, quality and airline standards are our highest priority at Skyborne and this investment in Gloucestershire Airport ensures we can continue developing the next generation of pilots without compromise.”
Skyborne says the company’s facility in Gloucestershire will work with its base in Bournemouth to deliver UKCAA and EASA Integrated ATPL courses for Skyborne’s airline programmes, as well as military conversions and the modular aspects of the recently launched Fly First pathway.
Fly First is a modular pilot training pathway that begins with practical flight experience from day one. Through the programme running over 26 weeks at the academy’s base in Vero Beach, Florida, trainees will build 175 required hours of flight time for their US FAA Private Pilot Certificate, FAA Instrument Rating, and conversion to a UK CAA Private Pilot Licence.
The expansion of the state-of-the-art facility in Gloucestershire will also enable Skyborne to increase its team of instructors, mechanics and other units of the business to support its growth.
