Speaking at the opening of this year’s Dubai Airport Show, which is taking place in Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) this week, HH Sheikh Ahmed said, “Dubai’s aviation sector is on a clear upward trajectory, driven by infrastructure expansion and the adoption of new technologies. As major contributors to our economy and global connectivity, both Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC) will continue to play a leading role in shaping the future of air travel through the 2030s and beyond.”
Approximately 1.1 billion passengers are expected to travel annually across the region by 2040 – up from 405 million in 2019. In line with this anticipated growth the Middle East is investing heavily in its airport infrastructure with around USD151 billion in investments required by 2040 to handle the expected surge in passenger traffic.
Innovations being showcased at this year’s Airport Show include technologies that are advancing and enhancing the passenger experience, the latest solutions for airport traffic management, airport carbon-reduction and sustainability, digitalisation and developments in the urban air mobility (UAM) sector.
May Ismail, Event Manager at RX Middle East, the organisers of this year’s show explained how the event has been growing year on year “as it is tailored to the needs and requirements that the airports and related domains require.”
Amel Chadli, President of Gulf Countries, Schneider Electric, the official ‘technology partner’ for the show, added “We are proud to be showcasing our latest integrated solutions for the aviation industry from facility management to passenger experience and how we help airports around the world reduce their environmental impact.”
Another exhibitor (and a gold sponsor at the show) AEROWISE is also demonstrating its Digital-Twin powered Airport Predictive Operations Centre (APOC) driving Total Airport Management enabling real time and predictive decision making.
Other partners with a presence at the show include Amadeus, Honeywell, Dubai Airports, WAISL, Dubai Air Navigation Services, Smiths Detection and ADB Safegate.
