Aviation software company, Assaia, has revealed the first members of its Strategic Partner Community (SPC). Alongside the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), which operates Toronto Pearson in Canada, International Airlines Group (IAG), operator of British Airways, Iberia and others and JetBlue Ventures are among the initial industry players to join.

The SPC plays a key role in providing strategic and tactical counsel to guide the development of Assaia’s portfolio of products for managing and optimising apron operations.

Commenting on the collaboration, Deborah Flint, President and CEO of GTAA said: “We’re creating the airport of the future, and innovation in airport operations will directly improve the passenger experience. We’re pleased for the potential industry-wide transformation that may result from these new technologies. We are laser focused on innovations that will make Pearson and its whole apron ecosystem more efficient while reducing our carbon footprint.”

Using artificial intelligence, Assaia’s software can help reduce turnaround times and improve on-time performance. It enables real-time responses to increase gate availability, improve on-time performance and ensure safety on the apron. In addition, by focusing on taxi-in time reduction and auxiliary power unit usage limitation, airports and airlines can make strides in their sustainability goals.

Explaining how the SPC is made up of innovative airports and airlines, Max Diez, CEO of Assaia noted: “Together, they give us unique insight into their requirements so we can provide what the whole aviation community needs. Having these companies as our partners is also a hugely gratifying endorsement of what we’re doing. Together, we’re closing the final gap to ensure there’s complete visibility of all airport operations.”

The SPC is poised for growth over the next year with Assaia attending and exhibiting at this year’s Passenger Terminal Expo where it will be speaking about how collaboration can improve apron operations.
