

Turkish Airlines has launched flights to Port Sudan, bringing the total number of destinations it serves in Africa to 63.
The flag carrying airline already connects more destinations across Africa than any other global carrier and will operate flights to Port Sudan twice a week until 29 September, after which the frequency will increase to three times a week.
Expressing his delight at the new route, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the board and executive committee, Prof. Ahmet Bolat, said: “The launch of this route marks an important step in connecting Port Sudan’s commercial potential, cultural heritage and tourism values to the world.”
He also described Port Sudan as “one of the historically and strategically significant port cities in Africa” and said the flights will help build bridges in many area sfrom trade to tourism, and from education to cultural exchange. “We will continue to expand our network in Africa, and connect the continent with the rest of the world.”
Located on the Red Sea coast, Port Sudan is Sudan’s largest port city and the country’s gateway to international trade. The city is also a critical hub for exports, including oil, agricultural products and natural resources.
The airport, which is the second-largest international airport in Sudan, is already served by airlines including Ethiopian Airlines, Egypt Air, Sudan Airways, Badr Airlines, Euroairlines and Tarco Aviation.
