Perth Airport has welcomed China Southern Airlines’ decision to increase capacity on its Perth–Guangzhou route, with the carrier set to operate a daily service between 1 December 2026 and 10 March 2027.
The frequency boost coincides with the busy Chinese New Year travel period, adding significant seasonal capacity into Western Australia. Across the 14 week window, the airline will offer 55,200 seats to the market.
Kate Holsgrove, Perth Airport’s chief commercial and aviation officer, said the move reflects growing confidence in Western Australia’s international demand profile and strengthens long standing ties with mainland China. She noted that daily operations will support inbound tourism, business travel, international education, VFR traffic and trade flows between the two markets.
Holsgrove added that the increase follows sustained collaboration with the State Government and builds on a 15 year partnership between Perth Airport and China Southern Airlines, as well as the airports’ Sister Airport agreement with Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.
China Southern Airlines’ regional director of sales and marketing, William Wang, said the airline is stepping up Perth–Guangzhou frequencies to meet strong peak season demand and to enhance direct connectivity for Western Australian travellers. He highlighted China’s 30 day visa free policy for Australian passport holders, which is making travel “easier and more accessible than ever.”
Wang also noted that the expanded schedule improves onward connectivity through Guangzhou, providing Western Australians with seamless access to China Southern’s international network across Europe, Japan, South Asia and other key markets.
The airline will operate seven weekly flights using its B787 9 aircraft.
