Delivering up to 70 per cent more space for passengers, the upgraded facility will also offer new self-service technology and digital wayfinding services.
“Raising the standards for our passengers is something we’re always striving to do and the significant investment in our check-in hall will deliver a major improvement,” said Adam Wilson, COO at Edinburgh Airport.
“As an airport it’s important that we listen to our passengers and deliver the changes they want to see – and creating more space in check-in is something that we have seen come up when asking for feedback.”
The work will include a full redesign of Zone A, which is currently used by low-fare carrier Ryanair. As well as digital wayfinding, video walls and new self-service machines will be introduced. Meanwhile, Zone D, which is currently used by Jet2.com and other carriers, will see an open collector and digitial wayfinding introduced.
Check-in desks will be repositioned to enhance passenger flow, while an open ceiling will help create a sense of space and a more open, relaxing environment.
“There will be some temporary changes throughout the hall while work is being carried out so we would like to thank passengers in advance for their patience as we deliver these important improvements,” continued Wilson.
The work will take place throughout the winter months and is expected to be complete by Spring 2025.
