The Office National des Aeroports (ONDA) in Morocco has launched its highly anticipated Airports 2030 strategy, a transformative initiative designed to modernise the country’s airport infrastructure and elevate the passenger experience to international standards.

ONDA’s forward-looking plan aims to position Morocco’s airports as global hubs, ensuring the country’s aviation sector, enhancing both the country’s aviation sector and its overall economic and tourism goals. With a clear vision for the next five years, ONDA is collaborating closely with the DGSN, Royal Gendarmerie, Customs Administration, as  well as the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Transport and Logistics to transform Morocco’s airports. Together, these efforts will help ensure that Morocco’s airports are connected, efficient and attractive, aligning with the nation’s economic ambitions and hosting major events such as the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

The Airports 2030 strategy also supports Royal Air Maroc’s aggressive growth plans to double its fleet by 2030 and quadruple it by 2037 amid the airline’s impressive current double-digit annual growth.

ONDA’s strategy rests on three key pillars: airport infrastructure development, reimagining the customer experience, and the transformation of ONDA itself.

As part of the plan, ONDA plans to modernise and expand its primary airport hubs, including Casablanca Mohammed V airport, which will see the air transport hub’s capacity swell from 14 to 35 million passengers by 2029. Other notable infrastructure expansion projects are planned for airports including Marrakech, Agadir, Tangiers and Fez.

A strong focus on the customer experience will see ONDA integrate cutting edge innovations in technology. The goal is to transform the airports into truly connected living spaces, creating seamless experiences for passengers from check-in to boardin, using the latest technologies to streamline every aspect of their journey.

“Our airports of the future will reflect an open, ambitious and welcoming Morocco, offering international standards and enriched with our legendary hospitality,” said Adel El Fakir, director  of airports at ONDA.

“From air traffic management to the expansion of our airport hubs, and from the tarmac to baggage handling and from check-in to boarding, the customer journey will be completely transformed,” El Fakir continued.

The Airports 2030 strategy also emphasies the importance of strengthening ONDA’s workforce. “The men and women of ONDA will be central to this modernisation programme, ensuring that  Moroccan airports set new benchmarks in terms of service, management and services,” emphasised El Fakir.

At the heart of ONDA’svision is the drive to address the future challenges of air transport, positioning the airport operator as a prominent international player as Morocco gears up for the global spotlight in 2030.
