Operated by Swedavia, Malmö Airport in Sweden is expanding its destination network with the addition of two new links with Romania – Bucharest and Iasi. Low-cost carrier, Wizz Air, will operate the new links twice a week, further strengthening Malmö’s connection to southeastern Europe.
Describing the airline’s investment in additional routes from Malmö Airport as a “clear sign of the continued high demand for international travel, ” Swedavia’s Director Aviation Business, Elizabeth Axtelius, also credited Wizz Air with having a longstanding presence in the region. “It plays an important role in connecting Sweden to well-established markets in southeastern Europe,” she said.
The two new routes will commence operations on 29 October and will be served on Tuesdays and Saturdays with Bucharest being served by an A321CEO aircraft with a seating capacity up to 230 and Iasi being served by an A320CEO aircraft seating up to 180.
“We are excited to expand our network from Bucharest and Iasi, offering our passengers more opportunities to explore some of Europe’s most beautiful and culturally rich destinations,” said a spokesperson for Wizz Air. “Malmö is a fantastic addition, offering unique experiences for travellers seeking adventure, relaxation and everything in between.”
