Air cargo solutions company Magma Aviation has announced a multi-year Unit Load Device (ULD) management partnership with Unilode Aviation Solutions.

The agreement will ensure Magma Aviation’s day-to-day ULD needs are supported throughout its global network. It will also include Unilode’s comprehensive digital service, track and trace coverage, maintenance and repair services, and complete operational management planning and oversight for each of the cargo solution company’s 3,500 ULD needs.

Commenting on the collaboration, Peter Kerins, CEO of Magma Aviation, said: “As we embark on our new partnership with Unilode Aviation Solutions, we are confident that it will propel our growth. By transitioning to Unilode, we will not only have access to the world’s largest ULD fleet, but we will also benefit from improved ULD visibility through Unilode’s innovative digital management systems.”

With a digitised fleet of almost 200,000 ULDs, Unilode currently owns and operates the largest global network for the maintenance and repair of ULDs and in-flight galley cart equipment. Meanwhile, Magma Aviation, which has strategic hubs in Europe and expansion in Dubai and Dublin, is part of the Avia Solutions Group, which operates a fleet of 221 aircraft worldwide.

Ross Marino, Unilode’s CEO, emphasised that his company is “well-positioned” to support Magma’s daily operations with its groundbreaking digital services. “Our commitment in innovation, combined with the world’s most extensive tag and reader network – complemented by in-house developments like the eULD app and customer portal – ensures Magma benefits from the most advanced technology of its kind.”

The partnership will allow the two companies to optimise and streamline processes and logistics management.
